Nya Brazier is a Baton Rouge, Louisiana native who approaches dance as both a cultural language and an embodied practice. She began dancing in high school, cultivating a versatile movement foundation through ballet, modern, hip hop, jazz, and musical theatre. Her ballet training was further enhanced under the artistic directors of Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre, where she developed a strong technical and conceptual understanding of classical form.
Nya holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Louisiana State University, a discipline that deeply informs her artistic perspective. While at LSU, she traveled to New Mexico to study Indigenous and Chicano dance cultures, where she was drawn to the shared sense of groundedness present across their movement traditions. This experience also marked her first performance at the American College Dance Association Southwest Conference in spring 2023. Throughout her performance career, Nya has appeared in works by Amy Wright, Applehelén Kirby, Claudio Ribeiro, and George Balanchine.

Following graduation, Nya worked with the Louisiana Department of Education, where she developed a growing curiosity and compassion for the rhythms of everyday life and the quiet choreography embedded in routine human experiences.
Currently, Nya is pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Dance at Texas Woman’s University. Her artistic inquiry centers on how movement can push physical boundaries while embodying power, musicality, and intention. Through her work, she investigates the dancer’s relationship to gravity, weight, and momentum, inviting audiences into intimate spaces where movement becomes both visceral and transformative.
